Something to CROW about
CROWs ( Creative Older Women artists) are celebrating a second year of successful workshops and events in an exhibition in September at MAKETANK , Paris st, Exeter CROW began in January 2022 with a meeting of 17 artists at MAKETANK. The aim was to bring older women artists together fuelling mutual support, networking and skill sharing. We now have 89 members. Every month CROW has run workshops ( abstract art, making books, life drawing, portraiture & many others) as well as presentations of work and visits. These have been achieved in a supportive and positive atmosphere delivered entirely by its own members creating a strong kinship and resilience. The show, “Light”, shines a spotlight on the remarkable talent and Ingenuity of 26 older female artists: from painters, printmakers and sculptors to ceramicists and textile artists, their unique approach to contemporary art and unfaltering passion prove that age is no barrier to innovation and brilliance. CROW’s continued presence at MAKETANK has created a nurturing culture enabling engagement with the wider community in Exeter and marking a significant place in Exeter’s cultural calendar. Crow has now grown to become a major part of the cultural life of Exeter, enabling a generation of artists to work collaboratively while developing their individual identities.
