PRESS RELEASE 22/09/15

CITY LAND SEA
Enjoying the city’s art scene has never been easier …This weekend Plymouth will be Jam-packed with artistic offerings. Plymouth Art Weekender is an ambitious three day event taking place across the city on 25/26/27th September 2015. The Weekender confidently celebrates Plymouth, its people and the visual arts, promoting the city as an exciting contemporary art destination.

The lamp posts of Devonport Park are home to the very successful project Art in the Park and should be high on your agenda of must see exhibitions. Not only is there some beautiful etching, painting and photography on display but a chance to read about the artists involved. Fantastic narratives accompany the work and give you a glimpse into the dedication needed to produce creative works. Dom Jinks is the Executive Director of Plymouth Culture "Art In The Park is a great, mobile event which takes a changing exhibition to an unexpected and contemplative location. Supported by a joint Plymouth City Council and Plymouth  Culture venture - Vital Sparks - we're incredibly pleased to support Neil Holden's wonderful idea and help make it a reality. The Plymouth Art Weekender is the city's first public art festival, and it is going to be bigger and better than our own initial ambitious expectations. With over 300 artists and over 80 events over the weekend, it's a great showcase for Plymouth's engaging and vibrant art scene.

We're looking forward to seeing Art In The Park's latest exhibition for the Plymouth Art Weekender Festival." Art in the Park is run by One Red Dot and supported by CHIL (community Health in Lipson.)

CITY LAND SEE runs until Monday 5th October.

Art in the Park project coordinator Neil Holden loves the connectivity of the exhibition. “I am a photographer and when I saw the work of artists like Janice Walton, Rita Smith, Sally O’Neill, Richard Sunderland and fellow photographer Matt Thomas I was amazed how our approaches to capturing built up and natural environments overlapped. It is brilliant to work with artists that share the medium.”
